LKN was hired by Optima Properties, LLC to assess the consequences of removing a stud wall on the first floor of a three-story light-frame townhouse with a full basement and to propose the necessary reinforcement for the existing framing to accommodate the renovation. LKN conducted an examination of the framing below and above the stud wall and determined that it was a load-bearing wall. LKN then developed a shoring plan and designed a properly sized flush beam to support the existing floor joists.
